Spreading Green
GREEN OUT DAY AT EHS WAS A SUCCESS!
October 22 is International Stuttering Awareness Day! As a stutter who wants to make a change, I set up a day at my high school to bring light to stuttering; I called it Green Out Day! On October 22, I had the school wear green to show their support for the stuttering community. I also handed out stuttering awareness pins and informational brochures. I also talked on the announcements which I believe was the most beneficial aspect. I think talking on the announcements gave me and other stutterers the advocacy that we needed. I think that it also gave insight to non-stutterers on how a stutter sounds and what a stutter actually is.
Thank you to everyone who showed me and the stuttering community support. I would like to give a special thank you to the EHS Drama Theater department for going full green and supporting me in this journey.
